JobTracker ("we", "us", "our") is operated by the creators of JobTracker, based in Pennsylvania, USA. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We are committed to handling your data responsibly.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, username, and email address.

Job application data: Job titles, company names, application dates, statuses, notes, and job descriptions you enter into the Service.

Resume files: Files you upload are stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS S3).

Company reviews: Reviews and opinions you submit, which may be publicly visible to other users.

Usage data: We log account activity (logins, signups, job additions) for security and operational purposes. Logs are retained for a limited period and are not shared.

Payment information: If you subscribe to JobTracker Pro, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. Stripe may retain billing information in accordance with their own privacy policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the Service.
• To send transactional emails (account confirmation, inactivity warnings) via Amazon SES.
• To notify us of new account registrations for operational monitoring.
• To enforce plan limits and process subscription billing through Stripe.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate JobTracker:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS S3) — resume file storage
• Amazon SES — transactional email delivery
• Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions
• Heroku — application hosting

Each of these services has its own privacy policy and data handling practices. We encourage you to review them.

5. Data Storage and Security

We take the following technical measures to protect your information:

• Encryption in transit — all data transmitted between your browser and our servers is protected via HTTPS/TLS.
• Encryption at rest — your account and application data stored in our database is encrypted at rest using AWS RDS encryption (AES-256). Resume files stored in AWS S3 are encrypted at rest using AWS server-side encryption (AES-256).
• Access controls — database and file storage access is restricted to the application and authorised personnel only.
• Payment security — payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers. We are not PCI-DSS compliant and do not need to be.

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information we will notify affected users by email within a reasonable timeframe.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Accounts inactive for 90 days may be deleted along with all associated data per our inactivity policy. You may request deletion of your account and data at any time (see Section 8).

7. Cookies and Local Storage

JobTracker uses browser local storage solely to remember your light/dark theme preference. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

8. Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Update your account information via your Profile page.
• Request a copy of your personal data.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data.

9. Children's Privacy

JobTracker is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
